Amnesty/Permanent Legalization for Illegal Aliens |
 2006: Voted on Senate floor in favor of S. 2611 to reward illegal aliens with amnesty Sen. Kerry voted in favor of final passage of S. 2611 which includes an amnesty (both immediate and deferred) for 10.2 million illegal aliens (6.7 million illegal alien workers and 3.5 million illegal alien spouses and/children). Temporary Legalization for Illegal Aliens as Guestworkers |
| 2006: Voted against amendment to limit proposed guestworker program Sen. Kerry voted against the Dorgan Amendment to S. 2611 to limit the proposed H-2C guestworker program to five years instead of 10 years. This would have reduced the number of new guestworkers under S. 2611 from two million to one million (200,000 per year for five years instead of 10 years). INFORMATION - John Kerry was elected Lieutenant Governor in 1982. In that office, he organized the nation's Governors to combat the acid rain that was polluting lakes, rivers, and the nation's water supply. Two years later, he was elected to the United States Senate and he has won reelection three-times since. He is now serving his fourth term, after winning again in 2002. |
